Each year in Galicia, on the night of the summer solstice, we light fires. We jump over one, seven times, to cleanse ourselves. With each jump, we ward off darkness and evil spirits.

In this piece, part of this series, the meigas,the evil witches- evil women- dance around the fire without a worry in the world, safein the knowledge She is all powerful. No man can hurt her. The fire becomes playground, Woman’s birthplace.
